Construction in 1918 of a culvert on Hayward Avenue, about a half a block south of Lincoln Way looking east toward houses on Welch Avenue, beyond. The large house to the right of center is still (1991) there at 127 1/2 Welch. The large house at upper right once housed Beta fraternity (razed, March 26, 1977).
