Central Junior High School building on the west side of Clark Avenue (between 5th and 6th Streets) in July, 1937, after serving school children for 56 years. In September, 1939, a new high school building was opened on the same site. During the 1960s, the new building again became a junior high school (last used as a school in 1986). Finally in 1990, the remodeled building opened as the Ames City Hall.
