Herb Hatch receives a Regulator clock from ?? from Quester's ? club on behalf of the Ames Heritage Association (later, the Ames Historical Society). This kind of clock was so familiar to 19th and early 20th century schoolrooms that it was known as "the schoolhouse clock." Herbert Roy Hatch (10/22/1918-6/4/2001) had been principal of Meeker Elementary School; and, after his retirement, was very active in the Ames Heritage Association Hoggatt School Restoration Project. He was responsible for repairing and installing all the student desks to be used in the restored 1861 one-room schoolhouse and for installing the blackboard. The dedication of the Hoggatt School museum, on the grounds of Meeker Elementary School, was May 22, 1983. (See another pose, 100.545.3)
